I’ve always been a huge fan of self-care. It’s so important! I like to keep busy and fill in all the gaps of my day with different projects and things to do. But, sometimes you just need a moment to yourself free from distractions for a quick mental, emotional and physical reset. Here are a few things I enjoy when it comes to self-care:
I absolutely love face masks! I don’t do this everyday, so I like to designate Sunday nights to face masking. There’s all different kinds of face masks you’ll find in the market. Clay masks and sheet masks are most likely my go-tos. I have oily-combination skin where it tends to be drier in Winter months. But, like any other skincare product I’ll usually see what’s lacking in my skin to choose which mask I’ll be using for that night. For example, if my skin is congested I’ll grab a clay mask to detox and unclog my large pores.
meditation & Stretching
Almost every successful person I’ve read about or listened to have said that practicing meditation is golden. It’s a must! This is something I’ve been working on to incorporate into my daily routine. Just like brushing your teeth twice a day, I want meditation to become a daily habit. It’s meant to control your mind and free your thoughts of anything negative that can be effecting your happiness. Also, I like to stretch first thing in the morning when I wake up to keep my muscles strong and flexible.
Drink plenty of water! It wasn’t until I started counting macros and meal prepping that I realized I wasn’t drinking enough water as I should. When you’re sleeping your body actually loses fluids. So, in the morning I like to drink a full glass of water with a slice of lemon to start my day before I drink any coffee or tea.
listening to a podcast
Podcasts are so fun to listen to! I listen to one every morning as I get ready for my day. Depending on what I feel like that morning dictates the type of podcast I’ll listen to. I enjoy storytelling and I’m a storyteller myself—like the ones that have to get every detail out before getting to the point (lol). Plus, podcasts are so educational and I feel like I’m always learning something new. If I feel focused and determined, I’ll listen to entrepreneurial or business focused podcasts. If I feel like I need a therapy-like session for clarity and what not I like to listen to podcasts like Oprah’s Super Soul Conversations.
Putting myself first
For the longest time, I’ve always been the nice girl and the yes to everything girl. I told myself that I needed to shift my focus and that it’s okay to be selfish. Putting yourself first isn’t selfish! In reality, nobody cares as much as you think they do. Everyone is so busy with their own lives—so you should focus on you and what makes you happy. Be progressive, grow and flourish!
